Grand Canal

Our grounds back onto the Grand Canal, one of the two major man-made waterways in Ireland. Along the canal, which stretches 132km into the Irish countryside, you can find wildlife, like birds, swans, squirrels and fish, the likes of which can’t be found anywhere else inside the city

Phoenix Park

The Phoenix Park is the largest city park in Europe (7sq. km) It’s located to just to the west of the city centre, a short walk from the Guinness Storehouse. Inside the park you can visit Dublin Zoo, Áras an Uachtaráin – the residence of the Irish President, the Wellington Monument, the Papal Cross. 

St Stephen's Green

St Stephen's Green is a garden park located just south of Grafton St, around a 25-minute walk from Griffith Halls of Residence. The park was opened in 1880 and features a wealth of local wildlife including squirrels and avian species; a Victorian-era bandstand; busts of famous Irishmen like James Joyce and Robert Emmet and the renowed Fusilier's Arch, which serves as the main entrance to the Grafton St area. The arch commemorates particiants in the Second Boer War (1889-1902) and is thought to be modeled on the Arch of Titus in Rome.
